Transpersonal Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is guided relaxation that creates a new awareness by stimulating a patient to concentrate on therapeutic suggestions to achieve a more clear understanding. Depending on the patient’s motivations, there may be a shift in attitude about specific subject matters, such as habits and stresses. The only requirement for achieving therapeutic results is that a patient has a conscious desire to change, or, in other words, is in agreement with the suggestions.

Hypnotherapy is effective in addressing a wide range of issues. It is a short-term therapy, which is ideal for creating positive lifestyle changes. Hypnotherapy can help with smoking cessation and weight control, and in overcoming procrastination, stumbling blocks, and other self-defeating habits. It has also been used successfully in pain management, stress reduction, and pre- and  post-operative suggestions for well-being and recovery.

How is Transpersonal Hypnotherapy different from traditional hypnosis?

In addition to reprogramming the subconscious mind with the client’s suggestions (which are given to the facilitating hypnotherapist during the session), transpersonal hypnotherapy goes beyond the personality to access intuition or inner wisdom. The goal is to increase awareness around personal and societal programming. With increased awareness comes a personal choice to keep or reject these programs. Once the choice is made to reject the old programs, undesirable patterns are de-programmed. This leads to the awakening  of the spirit. As stated in “A Course in Miracles,”  “What you think you are is a belief to be undone.”

Transpersonal hypnotherapy is a specialty that can be best described by defining the word “transpersonal” as the intersection of the mind, body, and spirit, or soul.

The practitioner considers a broad scope of interventions that lead to mental, physical, or spiritual changes and increased awareness. Transpersonal hypnotherapy allows for client and therapist to address any aspect of the relationship between the mind, body, and spirit, and their interaction with each other; yet, no religious orientation is suggested. Instead, a revelation takes place that makes it possible for patients to explore their relationship with a universal creator and their own unique spiritual walk through human life.
